A Bit About Me
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to storytelling and the power it holds to connect us across boundaries and perspectives. Early in my career, as I began working in radio and journalism, I found myself captivated by the stories of others—the lives, communities, and traditions that shape who we are. My path led me across Canada, from the bustling streets of Toronto, Ontario, where I was born and raised, to our quaint home in Saint John, New Brunswick. In between, enriched by the remote, breathtaking landscapes of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and Terrace, British Columbia. Along the way, I came face-to-face with a deep truth: our environment is not just a backdrop to our lives but an integral part of our identities, traditions, and future.
During my years in broadcasting, I shared stories that often echoed a theme of urgency around environmental and cultural preservation. Covering stories from language preservation and land claims, to the largest wildfire season in British Columbia’s history and the Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. The impacts of Site C, the drunken forest phenomenon and lowering water levels in the Mackenzie Delta all shaped my understanding of how environmental and societal issues are intertwined. The communities I served weren’t just looking for news; they were looking for an opportunity to amplify their concerns, a beacon to ensure important communications reached them, and a platform to engage others in their struggles and triumphs while staying connected across distances.
While these experiences were fulfilling, I felt an itch that my work was not complete. I wanted to do more—to shift from broadcasting events to actively creating change. I began to see climate education as a powerful tool that could empower communities and inspire action. So, I stepped away from the path I had carefully carved out for myself, leaving behind a stable career in broadcasting to pursue new education and training in environmental communication and education.
This journey led me to pursue a Master of Arts in Environmental Education and Communication at Royal Roads University, where I deepened my understanding of communicating complex environmental issues in ways that resonate with diverse audiences. Today, with years of hands-on experience and academic insight, I am committed to using my voice and platform to foster a deeper understanding of climate change, promote sustainability, and champion equitable community-based solutions.
I aim to bring people together across communities, bridging the gaps between those who have long advocated for environmental protection and those just beginning to understand its urgency, while critiquing dominant ways of knowing, being and doing. I believe that by building meaningful connections, we can inspire collective action that transcends politics, borders, and backgrounds, where we can build a new system that benefits all and exposes the redundancy of the status quo.
Join me on this magical carpet ride, as we embark together on changing the world hand-in-hand. I look forward to accompanying you on this journey.

Students develop a broader understanding of sustainability, learn general systems theory and cultivate their own ecological identity. In the larger context of learning, our students often get outside — of the classroom, and of their own mindsets.
Students also learn creative and strategic communication skills and practice design thinking. Worldviews, ecopsychology, and Indigenous ways of being and knowing will shape a critical awareness of multiple perspectives and foster a closer connection with the natural world.
The learning focuses on how we live, act, relate, teach, and communicate. Students discover more about the interconnectedness of the biosphere through hands-on experience at field school within various Indigenous communities.
